Lassus: Resonet in laudibus

Lassus: Quem vidistis

In Quem vidistis pastores, (another five-part motet by Lassus), the shepherds are asked to describe what they have seen. 'We saw a baby and a choir of angels' they reply. The piece ends with more alleluias than usual! Arranged by Greg Lewin. SSATB.

Hassler: Two Madrigals

Hassler studied in Venice with Andrea Gabrieli, where he absorbed the new Italian style which was soon to spread across most of Europe. These two five-part pieces 'La bella Filli' and 'Care lagrime mie' are taken from his 'Madrigali' (1596). SATTB

Keith Rogers: Flippancy

A 'fun' encore for a good consort. When the audience isn't trying to identify the many fragments of well-known tune which bubble up out of this entertaining piece it will be thinking 'did they really just play that?' Requires style and panache. SSATB

Susanna Faire

A salacious Biblical story in two settings by sixteenth century composers. The versions given here are taken from the influential English publication Musica Transalpina, often credited with introducing the Italian madrigal style into England. SATTB
